During our last WineAndCheese we determined the order of best wine and cheese pairings for PinotVember. Surprisingly we had the same results, top pairing was the Willowbrook Pinot and Camembert and then:
When I was at work last night, I decided to try out a new way of wine and cheese pairing. We had some Petite Blue Triple Cream cheese leftover from our Wine and Cheese Friday, http://mferraro73.tumblr.com/post/68106150195/pinot-vember-11-22-pinot-noir-and-petite-blue . Instead of just choosing one wine to pair with the cheese I thought it would be fun to guess which wine would pair best with the cheese, already knowing the cheese flavor. This cheese was pretty soft when we had it so I brought some pita from my greek lunch to spread the cheese on. I used my newly honed wine and cheese skills and set out…
We found our final Pinot Noir for Pinot-Vember during our recent trip to Sonoma, http://mferraro73.tumblr.com/post/68438913683/sonoma-trip-with-geoff-and-sabrina-11-24-over, at Alexander Valley Vineyards. (http://www.avvwine.com/) Although we did research the cheeses that would pair well with this type of wine, we still couldn’t find them at the grocery store. We decided to try out a Mozzerella cheese since we haven’t used this cheese during Wine And Cheese Friday.
Over the weekend, we decided to head up to Sonoma again to use our Sonoma Passport. (http://sonomapassport.com) This trip we chose to go to Alexander Valley and try out 4 wineries: White Oak Winery, Alexander Valley Vineyards, Mazzocco and Francis Ford Coppola Winery.
Pinot-Vember continues this week with a Pinot Noir and Petite Blue Triple Cream cheese both purchased at BevMo. (http://www.bevmo.com) Since there was a “5 cent sale” going on, I cheated a little by reading the descriptions of some of the wines. During the “5 cent sale” you get 2 bottles of the same wine, so I wanted to be sure it was one we would be interested in.
Pinot-Vember continues this week with a wine we purchased on our trip to Kenwood, CA. (http://mferraro73.tumblr.com/post/61985730370/trip-to-kenwood-9-15-we-continued-on-our-search)
Neil was doing his programming thing this weekend so we decided to do wine and cheese a little different. Usually we taste the wine and cheese side by side and compare notes. This time we tasted separately, lets see if it changes anything…
Join us in celebrating Pinot-Vember this month! We’ve decided to feature all Pinot Noir wine pairings as a fun theme for the blog.
Our wine and cheese pairing this week is a sparkling wine from Trader Joe’s with another soft cheese called St. Andre. Since our last cheese was named after a nearby mountain, I figured I should do a little research on this cheese. I did a quick Google search and found out St. Andre cheese is a specific type of triple cream cheese that has a soft buttery texture, tangy edible rind, and tastes like an intense version of Brie. Thanks Wikipedia, now onto the wine.
We received this cheese from some friends because they knew we loved to pair Wine and Cheese! Thanks Sabrina and Geoff! We had heard about Mt. Tam cheese on a recent trip to Cowgirl Creamery. (http://www.cowgirlcreamery.com/) So we consulted our wine and cheese pairing list and looked for a wine that would pair with a soft cheese similar to Brie.
