When we last visited Trader Joe’s we saw this white blend from South Africa. Since we haven’t had many South African wines, we figured we’d give it a try. The salesperson said it would be a good wine to enjoy in the Florida sunshine. Not being familiar with these varietals, we googled what type of cheese would work, and chose herbed goat cheese. Let’s see if we made the right choice?
After learning last week that Gouda cheese is named after the town of Gouda where it was originally traded, we decided to continue down the same path and find out what other cheeses are named after the places where they originated.
This is our first week in Costa Rica! We figured it was appropriate to find some Wine And Cheese from here to discuss…when in Rome! On our first day here we headed over to the MegaSuper in order to see what was available. There were definitely some familiar American wines here but we wanted something authentic. Without any real idea of what we were buying, we chose the Monasterio Vino de Uva fortalecido and Quesos del Norte las cuatro a Ahumado.
When we visited the Rainbow Market cheese counter, we were given a few different samples to try. (http://www.rainbow.coop) We tasted the Jasper Hill Harbison cheese and I thought it would pair nicely with a Pinot Noir. And we were in luck because we got an extra bottle of the Row 503 Pinot at the BevMo 5 cent sale. (http://www.bevmo.com) Let the pairing begin!
