A Vineyard Walk through Les Celliers de Sion, Valais, Switzerland

Maria and Neil just before they declare themselves lost in the vineyard

When we arrived in Sion, we were surrounded by vineyards! What a pleasant surprise. Although we wouldn’t be renting a car there, we were determined to find a way to make our way over to the grapes. They are ripening now and it’s the perfect time to go see them.

I searched on Trip Advisor and found an excursion that included a walk through the vineyard and lunch. Just what we were looking for! Les Celliers de Sion (The Cellars of Sion) were only about a 20 minute walk from our AirBnB and although it was warm, we agreed it was close enough to make it happen.

Di Bruno Bros Wine and Cheese

Di Bruno Bros Cheese Mural in Italian Market, Philadelphia

Di Bruno Brothers is a long time cheese shop in Philadelphia, but honestly we just stumbled on it last year during our first visit out. Since we liked it so much, it was our first stop upon arrival this year! We knew we’d be able to find all kinds of wines and cheeses to stock our fridge.

Tweetup in Cleveland

cheers to the pinksociety from Magee333 and winecheesefri

I always look forward to my #winechats on twitter and Laura is a fellow “winelover” that I’ve been chatting with through the years. She lives in Cleveland and its always nice to catch up when we have those monthly wine gatherings.

Canned Wines in St Croix

Canned Wines in St Croix

We’re always on the search to try new wines so when I find new ones, especially those in a can, I see it as a challenge. These tasting notes come to you from St. Croix. And all of them were purchased at a convenience store but that’s ok with me.

Italian Rosé and Local Mozzarella cheese

Italian Rosé and local Mozzarella cheese

We were excited to find a handful of Italian wines to try in February. This rosé was purchased as part of that collection. We already told you about the Wine Folly Wine and Cheese List and on there was a Sangiovese Rosé with Mozzarella. After purchasing the rosé we found a cheese that was made in the part of Costa Rica where we were staying, Jaco. What a great chance to do her suggested pairing. I didn’t know which grapes were used to make the rosé but I figured it was a pretty close match. Let’s find out how the pairing went!

White blend, Sparkling Rosé and Two Monte Azul cheeses with Carol

Carol, Maria and Neil preparing tasting notes for the rosé

We found a fellow WineAndCheese lover here in Quebradas, Costa Rica! Her name is Carol and she lives right down the road from us. Since she’s an expat, we can speak English, which makes it a little easier! We had already gotten together for wine and cheese before so I wanted to do it again as part of WineAndCheeseFriday. Also having some in-person time provided a nice break from all our Christmas video chatting.
