Over Labor Day weekend, Neil and I visited Lake County as a work field trip. We were invited out to Sol Rouge (http://solrouge.com/) in order to see the estate vineyard that produces some of the wine I sell. To those of you who live here in the city, this trip was able to happen because the Bay Bridge was closed (http://baybridgeinfo.org/closure), and our winery on Treasure Island was not accessible to the public.
It’s time for another “super local” Wine and Cheese! Our wine, Barbera, comes from my work (http://winery-sf.com) and our cheese, Broncha, is from Petaluma, CA (http://www.achadinha.com). Neil and I love to support local businesses so these experiences are always close to our hearts.
Our wine this week is a Riesling from Washington. We figured we’d try something a little different for a change. Also it’s a wine that can range anywhere from dry to sweet. We are excited to see what we chose!
We purchased this wine during our recent trip to J. Keverson in Healdsburg. (https://wineandcheesefriday.com/healdsburg-fun/). This pairing is one of the final ones from the list we found in The Fun Book for Couples.(http://www.amazon.com/books/dp/0740738372) The last time we paired a wine with Gorgonzola cheese we could only find “crumbles” so we were excited to find a chunk of it this time.
Our wine and cheese tasting occurred in Chicopee, MA this week, during our trip to my mom’s. This tasting will include additional comments from my mom (Betty), my brother (Vinny) and my brother’s girlfriend (Koren). We chose the sparkling wine as a lighter, sweeter option everyone could enjoy!
The wine we are tasting today comes from Hart’s Desire in Healdsburg, CA. (http://www.hartsdesirewines.com) We picked it up while we were there on our recent trip, and Shea gave us a few ideas of what flavors may surface during our tasting. We decided to go with a simpler cheese in order to allow those aromas to shine through regardless of the cheese.
