We continue celebrating 5 years of Wine and Cheese Friday with our favorite entries. We chose these entries by the total experience we had during the pairing or tasting. When Maria made her choices she kept changing her favorites but I guess that means we've had some really good experiences!
This entry is a continuation from the Best of the Best of Berkeley, https://wineandcheesefriday.com/best-of-the-best-of-berkeley/. We hope you enjoyed hearing all about our shopping and now you get to hear all the delicious tasting notes! Our cheeses came from Rockridge Market Hall, http://rockridgemarkethall.com and The Cheese Board Collective, http://cheeseboardcollective.coop/cheese_bakery/cheese. Our wine was purchased at Kermit Lynch, http://kermitlynch.com. Our theme for wines and cheeses this entry was based on recommendations from others over the past few months. Without further ado, we present to you Fattoria Moretto Lambrusco paired with Mimolette, Robiola 2 Latti, Besace Du Berger, and Fourme D’Ambert!
We were both able to attend the second night of the Cheese Plus event on Saturday. It was a great time, and some delicious cheeses were sampled and purchased.
It seems that while we were in Italy we mostly drank Chianti. The wines were fine but we were mainly just finding the “house wine” so nothing really stuck out for us. Looking forward to another trip to Italy to seek out some awesome wines.
We met Davide, our gracious cheese host, at the Cheese Plus Event we attended back in January,. He told us to come see the cave if we were ever in the area. We decided to make this happen since we would be traveling through Northern Italy during our recent trip to Europe.
We heard about a public cheese tasting and couldn’t wait to attend. The event took place at Cheese Plus, an upscale specialty store, who has cheese plus. (http://cheeseplus.com/) The tasting event featured cheese producers who were all in town for the Fancy Food Show.
