Sparkling Moscato and Cheddar

Sparkling Moscato and Cheddar 1

Our wine and cheese tasting occurred in Chicopee, MA this week, during our trip to my mom’s. This tasting will include additional comments from my mom (Betty), my brother (Vinny) and my brother’s girlfriend (Koren). We chose the sparkling wine as a lighter, sweeter option everyone could enjoy!

The wine we are tasting today comes from Hart’s Desire in Healdsburg, CA. (http://www.hartsdesirewines.com) We picked it up while we were there on our recent trip, and Shea gave us a few ideas of what flavors may surface during our tasting. We decided to go with a simpler cheese in order to allow those aromas to shine through regardless of the cheese.

Trip to The Wine Club

We decided to go to The Wine Club (http://www.thewineclub.com/) for some wine tasting during our “Wine and Cheese” time this week. There was a little cheese there as a snack but we will just be discussing the wines for this entry. The Wine Club offers different tasting themes every Friday and Saturday; this week Spanish wines were being featured.

Pinot Grigio and 2 local cheeses (Part 2)

In order to properly taste the next cheese we had some rice cake. The Gypsy Rose cheese is the second cheese we tried and it is found on the left in the photo. It has a washed rind and gets a pink color naturally. I found this cheese to have a strong odor; some of the smell comes through but it is not overwhelming. The Gypsy Rose had a hint of saltiness and reminded me of Parmesan, maybe it could be grated over pasta. Neil thought it was sharp, dry, and crumbled in his mouth. He would like to try it on a cracked wheat cracker.
