During our time in Colorado, we took a trip out to Downtown Boulder to explore the area. The pedestrian mall area is super cool with street performers, shops, restaurants and Savannah Bee Company. Neil and I are fans of bees and their products so we decided to drop in. There were all kinds of lotions, soaps, candles and in the back of the shop, a mead tasting bar. We arrived just as they were closing up but the lady at the tasting bar let me taste a few samples.
Do you have a twitter account? Do you like wine? Have you ever done a twitter chat? Twitter chats take place for around an hour and a bunch of people get together to discuss a monthly topic. It’s all text, well, except for the #pinksociety chat. They have videos, crazy memes and usually a dance party portion. A very fun way to get together and drink pink wine! I’ve been part of the #pinksociety since it’s inception and another cool part of it, is that you can win prizes, which brings me to today’s #WineAndCheeseFriday entry.
When we chose to come out to Longmont, CO, we had no idea that there would be a cheese school 15 minutes from our rental. What an amazing bonus for our stay here! Neil and I have “dipped our toes” into cheesemaking but just handful of times so when we found out we could attend Cheesemaking classes, we figured it was our duty as cheeselovers. Our friend Jinnee was in town when the class occurred, so we all attended together. Jinnee said, “I love hanging out with you guys, we always eat so well!”
It’s North Carolina Wine Month so let’s celebrate with Cabernet Franc from South Creek Winery in Nebo, NC and Carolina Bleu Marble cheese from Ashe County Cheese, also made in North Carolina. We purchased both this wine and cheese when we made our way out towards Asheville, NC in the summer, https://wineandcheesefriday.com/south-creek-winery-visit-nebo-nc/. This would be our first winery visit in North Carolina so we were anxious to sip the wines.
I was so excited when my friend Jo told me there would be a Cheese Event at the Durham East Branch library. Yay, cheese and the library! It was even free. The event was sponsored by a grocery store called the Durham Co-Op and the theme was sheep and goat cheeses. Mmm stinky barnyard cheeses, just what I prefer!
We purchased this wine and cheese in North Carolina about six weeks back but it just so happens to be a Pinot Noir pairing just after Pinot Noir Day! We found the wine from JAQK Cellars at World Market, a great place to buy wine! This is actually a brand that I first heard about in San Francisco over six years ago while job hunting. The cheese comes from Looking Glass Creamery, which we previously visited with our friend Doris. We figured the intensity of the cheese would pair nicely with a Pinot Noir, let’s see how we did!
Maria and Neil started wineandcheesefriday.com to learn more about wine in 2014. We’ve visited wineries, and creameries across the world to learn as much as we can about these two wonderful delacacies. We❤️🍷&🧀
